Working with Labels & Annotation 2010 Schedule
You can arrange to attend this workshop via a web connection on an alternate date that fits your schedule. For more information, contact Terese Rowekamp. Description This hands-on half-day workshop explores labels and annotation in ArcGIS, and will help you become more skilled in using both. Labels are dynamic text on a map. They provide useful information about the map features you see, and automatically display and move around as the extent of the map changes. Labels are helpful when you are examining data on a map interactively. Annotation is also text on a map but, unlike labels, they have a fixed location and do not change position as the map extent changes. They are used when you want exact control over the placement of text, especially on map output such as printed copies or exported pdf files. Topics Covered Introduction Labels and Annotation – pros and cons Label Overview Label properties; Label Manager; Labeling toolbar Tailoring Labels to Your Data Label priority and weights; Label classes; Advanced label expressions using VBScript commands; Text formatting tags; Advanced text symbol properties Annotation Overview Types of annotation and when to use them Map Annotation Annotation groups; Creating and editing map annotation; Label tool Geodatabase Annotation Annotation feature classes, Creating and editing geodatabase annotation; Feature-linked annotation A working knowledge of ArcMap and ArcCatalog is required prior to attending this workshop. You may register to attend as a student in our office, or you may attend via a web connection at the same time. You will be asked to choose an attendance option on the registration form.
