Improving Geodatabase Data Integrity 2010 Schedule
You can arrange to attend this workshop via a web connection on an alternate date that fits your schedule. For more information, contact Terese Rowekamp. Description This hands-on half-day workshop explores methods for improving geodatabase data integrity through the use of attribute and spatial data integrity validation. Attributes are the descriptive data stored with map features. Attribute validation options include lists of values presented to the user and checking that numeric values fall within a specified range of values. Spatial validation examines spatial relationships between features and identifies to the user areas where the defined relationships, or rules, are violated. For example, a specified rule might be that parcel boundaries must not overlap, allowing areas where parcel polygons overlap to be found and highlighted on the map. Topics Covered Introduction to the Geodatabase Advantages; Types; Moving data into a geodatabase Attribute Validation Subtypes; Domains; Creating and editing data with subtypes and domains; Issues when adding subtypes and domains to existing data Spatial Validation Overview of spatial validation; Options available with various ArcGIS licenses Map Topology When to use; Creating and editing data using map topology; Other editing techniques for improving spatial data integrity without a geodatabase topology Geodatabase Topology Topology properties; Creating topology; Editing Topology; Topology and other editing toolbars A working knowledge of ArcMap and ArcCatalog is required prior to attending this workshop. Attending this Workshop The workshop will be conducted at our training site on the scheduled dates. You may register to attend as a student in our office, or you may attend via a web connection at the same time. You will be asked to choose an attendance option on the registration form.
